To assist children and parents in finding what they need, booklists on a wide variety of topics are available.
Five personal computers are available for use by children through sixth grade. A child must have his library card with him in order to use the computer.
A variety of educational games are loaded into two computers for children ages 3 and up.
- Word Processing
Students under age 12 can type and print out their work. The first five pages in black & white are free. Additional b&w copies are 5 cents each. Color pages are 25 cents each.
- Library-Based Free Internet Access
Any child under the age of 18, unless parental consent has been withheld may go online.
Early Literacy Stations
Two computers featuring games suitable for preschoolers are located in the play area.
Each year many groups visit the Children's Department. These groups include nursery schools, public school classes, and scout troops. Call or stop in to arrange for a group visit.
If an item you want is not in, let us know so that we may hold it for you when it is returned. You will be notified by phone and have 3 days in which to pick it up. Holds may be placed by library staff or you may do it through the library's catalog on the web page.
If you need a book, cassette, CD or video we do not own, a librarian can often obtain it for you through interlibrary loan. This process usually takes several days and you will be notified when the material comes through.
Four iPads loaded with educational games are located in the Children's Department.
Black and white photocopies are 15 cents per page. Color photocopies can be made in the adult department. If a book cannot be borrowed, we will make up to four copies free of charge.
We schedule regular programs for both preschoolers and school-age children throughout the year as well as additional activities during school holidays and the summer vacation.
